I remember now, I had the same issue with a Vauxhall Astra MK4. It is quite common on them and it is not the relay but a brass contact that breaks off inside the wiper motor housing. I soldered mine back on, this was some 4 years ago but I kept the link about it. This could be the problem here but don't hold me to that but it is the same issue.

LINK

Read through it to get a better understanding of the problem.

The linkage seems quite sound so I am thinking this is an electronic fault as well. Is this a possibility.
Hi I have a similar problem now. Can you share how did you resolve it?
Where is that relay located - can you share a picture?
