After a thorough investigation, I can confirm there is no delay relay in the stalk. At least, not in the one I took apart. Destroyed actually, but it was a noble death. It gave it's body to science.

In fact, there are no semiconductors in the switch whatsoever. Although complicated, it contains nothing more than brass strips, it literally is just a switch.

Which means it's still out there! Where are the delay electronics on a phase 1?

Exactly the same as me! I also saw the diagram in the Haynes book and mentioned it in this post. But there's nothing in there.
