Default How do i test the AWD?

hi,
I've an 05 plate XC90 D5 auto. I'm getting front wheel spin on take off and not just in the rain.
how can i test that the rear wheels drive without snow or going off-road??
I'm also getting a vibration in the cabin and on the steering under acceleration
Thanks for reading.

Try turning the prop shaft, if it turns then AWD is not working. Vibration check vacuum on engine mounts, plenty of info on here, also Chesired5 has a good youtube channel how to check.

The others have told you exactly what to do - all it would add is that if you are getting more than the odd squeak out of the front tyres when setting off hard it's very likely you have a AWD fault. The system kicks in in less than half a revolution of wheel spin, even on the early 163 cars.

Oh dear, hopefully might get away with just a new spline coupling and not a complete angle gear,

Or just drive it in 2wd mode and avoid any muddy fields

Now done the vacuum test on front and rear engine mounts. front vacuums up quite high, holds for a minute or so and slowly leaks off. rear mount only goes up a little bit and drops off. so both need replacing...
