Default Tyres!

Hi everyone, anyone have any good advice on new tyres? Places to buy? Good finds/deals etc?

My Pirelli's have lasted 25k on the front, quite impressed!

Default XC70 Tyres - something new?

I'm in the same boat, currently running Pirelli scorpion verde's all season on the front, standard on the rear. I'll probably get some winter tyres for the winter so looking for a more summer focused tyre, Michelin Primacy 4's, Bridgestone Turanza T005 or Continental Premium Contact 5's.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has any experience with the Michelin cross climates, especially given the weather we've recently had.

Not on an XC, but a friend has them on a V50 and reported that they were excellent in recent weather.

There is a sticky thread devoted to this subject which has all you could ever wish to know....

But you need to decide what your priorities are first....

- Are you able to keep 2 sets of tyres?

- Where do you live - do you need good snow/ice performance? Is it hilly?

- Will you be going off road at all? (You may need a deep all terrain tread)

- Will you be towing/fully loaded? (Would not be wise to run winter tyres all year)

Then start checking tyre labels....

We had Cross Climates on the previous XC90 and they were great. I currently run them on my other car a Seat Exeo and I wont be using anything else, the grip they offer is phenominal, especially through standing water. I plan to put them on the current XC90 too when the tyres it came with wear down.

Dave i'm in Okehampton too mate! Are the Cross Climates worth the extra £?

Tannaton - to be honest I don't have time to read a 110 page thread! Just wanted to hear if anyone has found any current good deals!

I think they are, although to be honest they perform better on my SEAT than they do the Volvo, but they are the best overall tyre Ive ever had in terms of performance and road noise. I cover 1000 miles a week so they good use from me :-)

When I had to replace my tyres in 2010 , the forum recommended Kumas, I had to replace that set last year after 80,000 miles ( can't grumble at that ) they've been brilliant in all conditions , got the replacement from black circle , 100 ukp each on offer

I know , I am a very smooth ( read that old) driver , realistically I should have swapped them a year earlier , on the same note , I've got an advisory on the front discs last year (changing them soon )and they're the ones that were on the car when I bought it with around 80k miles
