Default Does S40 have AWD??

I have S40 2005 in the manual it has a section for 'AWD'?? and it doesnt say optional next to it like other features do in the book.

does it have AWD then?

No but the V50 T5 had it as an option .

They didn't sell the 4WD version in the UK.

you can get the 4WD version in Left Hand drive (Europe, USA) not sure if it was ever produced in RHD.

4WD drive loses about 20bhp at the wheels compared to the 2WD variant, so you'll be quicker most of the time with 2WD unless things get wet and slippery - saw a comparative power graph of power at the wheels (can't remember the source) was 170bhp at the wheels for a standard T5, and 150 for the 4WD auto.

Yours almost certainly does not have 4WD drive - want proof just gun it in first in the wet.

Yes they did sell the AWD V50 T5 in Uk in 2005 but due to what Monkey said above sales were very low so it was discontinued .

It is STILL available for special vehicles , there are a few new police AWD V50's around on the road right now ..

Ah cool so will be uber rare.

Would make a nice tuner car that not enough power stock but would fly with some decent upgrades.
