Rear lights

Hi!

I've noticed on some S60's/V70's that the rear lights have 4 red LED's so you can see them from the side view. Is this a recent mod by Volvo? I like them! Can you do a straight swap for these lights to the standard ones?

My S60 has a small light to the side of the rear lamp cluter, kinda like a sidelight ... takes a v small bulb in the holder!!

Mine is a 2002 (1st Reg Sept 2002) and has them

It probbably does, its just that the bulbs have blown. They're not LEDs, at least not on pre '05 models. Its the reflectors in the lenses that make them appear to be.

I think Gareth is referring to the facelift V70 models which have these 4 LEDs on the side of the rear light cluster above the rear bumper. I don't think the facelift S60s have these LEDs, just the small 10W filament bulb and the clear lens light clusters - perhaps Graeme can clarify this on his car?

OK, just went outside to check them out...as far as I can tell without crawling into the boot at this time of night it's still only a normal bulb on the side markers; they still have "conventional" lenses here - it's only the main part of the cluster that has the clear plastic.

Will take a closer look in the morning!
