Default Advice please - another newbie!!

Hello All,

Just migrated here from the Toyota Estima forum with the cracked head death of our bus, at £1500 average to fix it just isn't worth it on a 1996 vehicle.

And now we have a 1997 V40 2,0 petrol manual with 101K and no service history.

Seems to go well and we think a good price. Needs a new cat as the cat lamp is on occassionaly.

Questions are:

What should I do as preventative manitainance now?

Is the cat converter a b*gger to cahnge and what sort of price are we talking please?

Many thanks in anticipation .....

Yo should try replacing the O2 sensor first, or even check the wiring to yours for damage. An o2 sensor is a lot cheaper than a cat.

Almost exactly the same as me... I used to have a '95 estima 2.2TD, dreaded cracked head reared it's ugly head, now got a 97 S40 (as my run around).... Welcome.....

I would agree about checking the sensors first.
