Default Tapet adjusting screw. B16

Hi, disaster today. Whilst adjusting tappets, the screw sheered off when I tightened the lock nut.Help needed in replacement. Don't know if it is the same screw as B18. A pis*er as I had just got it running nicely with no oil leaks.

Hi,Have been offered a complete rocker assembly for a very good price. Will go down that route. If one tappet adjuster screw is fatigues then the rest can't be far behind.

They are very easy to break at the best of times. They need very little pressure on the spanner to have them "tight enough". They are a casting of some sort I believe.

I believe they are of steel, but are specially hardened to make them hard-wearing. Hardening, in turn, makes them brittle.

Having watched the following Amazon Cars video recently I was surprised to see how little torque Rob applied when tightening the lock nuts (by the looks of it). And he obviously knows what he is doing.

Having watched the amazon video I find that method quite awkward.Remembering which part of the sequence you are at. My method is setting number one cylinder at TDC.with dizy rotor pointing to7 o clock or thereabouts,The valves are closed so I adjust the tappets on no,1. Turn the engine so that the rotor moves 90* that should be TDC no. 3 cylinder and adjust. Further 90* gives no,4 tdc and further 90* gives no,2 TDC .B16 clockwise, reverse for B18-20. Is there any problem that you can see with this?
