Default Cluster woes

Hi folks.

I managed to blow up my 91' b230f gauge cluster the other week accidentally shorting my dash clock. Knocked out the tacho, side light warning bulb (swapped for good bulb but still dead) and the 2 main cluster back light bulbs.

I went and found a replacement cluster from a yard that looked the same and all worked well until you rev above about 3k rpm at which point the idle will stick high. Restarting solves the issue.

Im told this is because of the vss (variable speed sensor) signal from the cluster giving the ecu incorrect information.

Tne original cluster was a k10042 and the replacement i fitted is from an earlier car.

Ive found another k10042 cluster for sale but it seems to lack a female spade connector just under the tacho that the original had. Dont want to wastemy money.

Im also told i can find the speed sensor wire from the ecu, cut this and plug it into the 2 male cruise control spades on the older cluster i have now.

Thoughts?
