Mine's got a gap on both sides.

The other side is much the same.
Seems a lot if the gaps are down to shrinkage.
Making me think some irk had borrowed some trim!

Looks like there are a few of us.
I am sure it can't be as Volvo intended.

Shrinkage seems unlikely as the trim that runs fore and aft is part rubber cushion part stiff plastic. The rear section is more rubbery but it just seems so unlikely. From your photo, it looks like the peg fits into the slot in the trim. I don't suppose you can slide that trim back to meet up with the peg, can you? A pair of rubber work gloves should give enough purchase or alternatively lay a strip of double-sided tape along its length. I'm sure you've tried but if not then it's worth a go.
I've looked at ours and apart from no gap, there is no covering trim as they simply butt up against each other.

As a further suggestion if you measure the distance back from a recognisable middle point to both the end of the trim as well as the rear trim with the locating peg then we can measure ours and see where the difference is?

Offside 15mm. Nearside 12mm gap between the two trims.
I have tried to stretch the flexible seal to lessen the gap, but without exerting too much pressure that it would cause any damage. No chance!
I think my dealer will get a call, assuming they are taking calls, they can sort it.

Me too, gap starting to increase, this has been a problem for many years in caravan trim shrinking and now looks like Volvo are having the same problem.

I am sure we are not first to experience this problem.
With that in mind, anyone know if a Volvo bulletin to dealers was put out regarding this?

More importantly is to find out if this is a water seal or just cosmetic trim.

I actually removed this rubber because I hated the way It looks and after adding it back, there was still the shortage. So its really rubber somehow shrinking together. What worries me a little is that there could be noise out of this rubber. Otherwise I don't mind it visually.

Apologies for the confusion I don't think I explained what I meant; what is the measurement from the hard trailing edge of the front section to the end of the long trim section? I'm guessing it's going to be less unless there has been some shrinkage in the section of trim that runs around and across the back of the rear sunroof panel.
I've just measured mine and both sides are 560mm.
