Default MOT pass

Took the old girl, a V50 2.0d along on Wednesday for an MOT test. Everything fine apart from needing to change the front pads and discs in the next 2-3 months time.

The emission test was a breeze, tester as very impressed with how low it was on the smoke test. Everything else okay and well pleased.

2 days time and my car is due for it's German MOT (luckily every 24 months). No technical faults visible... At least at the moment!

How intensive a test is the German one then? What does that cost. MOT in the UK is £54.85.

The German "MOT" is very extensive and takes about 60 mins. It includes checks of all safety requirement parts, lighting, engine control, emissions, tire types (they check tyres - if winter or summer, if you head in snow on summer tyres to the TÜV check, you'll fail on the spot) and sizes as well as condition. Steering slack, rust, cracks in windows, leaks in aircon systems, etc. etc. - all that is checked nowadays... And very thorough...!
