Question 960 rear shocks

Afternoon all,
volvo 960 mk2 estate 1995.

I noticed one side at the rear was low a couple of inches and thought a pair of new shocks were in order(195k on the clock) so i bought a pair of monroe r3412`s as they were listed for my volvo. As you can see by the pic the bottom shock mounting is different.I will put my stupidity down to not checking here first
Any way the mots due up next month so i have to change them-can anyone point me in the direction of a budget pair that will bolt in?
Many thanks.

I am no expert and have not researched the matter, but does the design variation make any difference if they are the maker's recommended ones? The distance between the ends/width of the bottom bush looks the same.

I would agree with Bob. If it's the same width it will be fine. I would say they deffo need renewed though

This is what i thought but the original bottom shock goes over the protrusion circled, obviously its larger so the monroe wont fit-this is my dilemma.

I get you now. I was thinking it was the same fitment as my 940 rear shock which has a bolt going through rear trailing arm. I suspect that's what you've been sold. You need one for Multi Link.

“ I noticed one side at the rear was low a couple of inches ”

Shocks don’t control ride height, springs do. Check for broken/excessively sagged spring on the low side. That said, your Old shocks look Past their prime, so replacing those is a good idea, but won’t fix the ride height.
