Default Little upgrades for my old 2.0T

Well it started as a "quick" valve stem sealing swap but during the process it had became a bit more complicated.

When the head finally was off the block ( now I regret i did not take the whole engine out of the car, that would have been much easier ) I decided to send it to a specialist to do all the work. I have no tools to push the valve springs and there is no place to do the surfacing nearby, so I thought this was the easiest way.

Got the head back ported, cleaned with replaced sealing and 8 valve guides on the exhaust side.

Next steps were to match the ports on the inlet manifold and on the gasket too. Started with the gasket, cut it out to match the head ports.

When i finished the gasket it looked like this. There were some meat to grind off from the manifold.

Slowly getting there:

While I was busy with the head some more parts turned up by the post.

Kinugawa 16t billet compressor wheel

And a Mellet turbo repair kit

So I set off:

After the ultrasonic cleaning:

Ready for balancing:

Just put it together for a photo before I sent it off to get balanced. Looks cool

After a long wait the head bolts arrived so I could start to put everything together.

B4204S cams fitted, will have to play with the timing once it runs but before that I need to do the piping for the new FMIC.

Pic of the car from last summer:

That is some tidy looking work there. She should run sweet when all done.

Good job! Is this 12L cartridge turbo and turbine housing with 16t compressor part with wheel? Or it is all 16t with some flage?

It is a 14t CHRA machined for the larger compressor wheel with the stock 14t turbine housing and 16t compressor housing.

Hi Slevin,

Where did you buy that Mellet turbo repair kit from? Can you show its part number?

Thanks!

Miguel

10x for the detail answer, but can I ask you is it impossible to do same hybrid with 12t turbo? The 12t and 14t housing and CHRA are same, excl. compressor wheel place on CHRA, aren't they? If it is correct the 16t/12t is possible I guess
