Default Wheels for winter

After reading winter tyre threads and other reviews, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance Gen1 tyres for November.
The question is, can anyone recommend a supplier of a set of alloys to go with them?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

You should try your dealer. I got mine from the dealer at knockdown price as a car had been delivered with the wrong wheels and after putting the correct ones on the had a spare set which I made them a silly offer on - they accepted and I took away the new wheels (less tyres).

Or keep an eye on ebay & the classifieds here: I picked mine up from a member here, but got some ones for my previous Saab off a fella on eBay, both were a set of 4 wheels for about £100, IIRC

Default Winter wheels/tyres

Hi, I was in exactly the same position 2 years ago. I hunted for original wheels on eBay and from the dealers. Cheapest I saw for a set of original second had volvo wheels was £800 on eBay. You don't know if there off a heavily damaged accident damaged car so I didn't bother.
The local garage that fit my tyres (and I trust) recommend www.wheelbasealloys.com
A set of after market wheels cost me £350 I've used them on my xc60 for 2 winters with conti winter tyres. I love them. My Summer diamond cut's are like new as they've never seen salt.
It's the only way to go.

I had those tyres fitted to my V60 last winter - not cheap but they are top notch and no more road noise than my Efficient Grip summer tyres. Winter tyres are sat in my shed ready to be fitted come November.

I got a set of MAK Stockholm wheels for winter tyres. The wheels are styled similar to Volvo wheels and take a Volvo centre cap. They were about £600 delivered.

Thanks for all the advice and comments. I ended up looking closely at Oponeo and mytyres on the web (dealer rims and tyres very expensive). Not much difference in price so went for Oponeo. Placed the order by phone to ensure I had the correct model of XC60 to be told that the credit card details could not be taken over the phone and to follow the link in the confirmation e-mail. That duly came and after checking everything carefully tried, and tried, and tried again. The system would not work - it would not allow me to enter any credit card details - so I phoned up to be told to keep trying or use money transfer. I certainly was NOT going to use money transfer - and I wanted the extra layer of security and guarantee from using the credit card. Tried again. Next day I got lots of phone calls, texts and e-mails saying I had still not paid. Tried again with no joy. So I phoned and cancelled the Oponeo order and have now purchased some Rial U1 alloys for the tyres to be fitted at my local dealer - the total fitted, balanced, tracked etc. cost was less than tyres over the web. I will see how things go in the winter and let you know how mytyres.co.uk have done.

Nicely done!
Wonder what the issue with Oponeo was....I've used both of them in the past without problems. Well, you're set now!
I reckon I'll be needing 2 new winter tyres by November, be interested to hear how yours go (if you have used them by then!)

Cheers!

Strange indeed. But anyway, you will be fine with the Rial wheels. Have used them for years (on a non-Volvo) and they hold up well against salt and grit in the winter.

After all, they have TUV etc so are fine for the job!
