volvo v70 leaking fuel/alarm system
Hi two things.
1. just filled up my 2002 v70 with fuel and it was pointed out that fuel was leaking out from under the car, I stoped filling the car and the fuel stopped leaking out, so could there be a problem with the filler pipe or something else, is it easy to fix ? 2. Also on the same car the dash board information system says the alarm system needs servicing how do you service this !! is it hard to do and how much would it cost to do if done by a volvo dearliship. Look forward to your coments on the two above items. |

1) Diesel or petrol? Several possible causes of leaks.
2) V. common problem. Replacement (new) siren is only sure-fire solution. Sometimes the original one can be salvaged & new battery fitted, but you've got to be very lucky. |

I think the going rate for new siren is around £180 as it's a genuine Volvo part.

Get a "larger size" pop rivet gun (not the household size) and a dozen large rivets, a 3mm (1/8") drill bit and carefully drill out the rivets which hold the RR fender liner in place. There you'll see what's leaking.
If you see nothing: On the air filter (mounted high on the filler neck) you'll see a barbed vent pointed downward. Get an 18" long piece of garden hose and soften its end in hot water so it goes over the barb. Blow into the hose and listen for a hiss. Worked fo me. |

I've just repaired my d5 s60 today for the same issue. Leaked fuel everywhere when filled up.
My issue happened to be leaking from the passenger side uk , so I lifted the seats and found a leak from the sender under the seat. The sender will be under another metal plate with 4 10mm bolts and I found it submerged with fuel. Worth a look there and post back. |
