Good luck Jon for the car and for you! I'm sure the car will be fine so you can stop being nervous!

The car had to stay overnight, for observation and restoration. What was last year a minor advisory turned out to be a less minor (but still not major) fail.
A little rust on the underside (I'll post pics when I get the car back if any interest) in a classic place. My excellent proper garage is going to cut out the strip of offending rust and let in a new piece of steel, so all will be well for the next 31.5 years ! Cheers, Jon. At least it wasn't too horrendous! Somewhere near the battery tray by any chance?
I'm kind of used to being an endangered species considering what else i drive - last time i checked there were less than 30 827 Coupés left and no accurate figure for the 827 Sterling as the DVLA in their "infinite wisdom" had lumped the SLi and Sterling into one "category" but only 4 registrations of them in 1994 and 3 from that model year were the figures for the 827 Sterling auto saloon left out of the (much greater) number sold.

No, not too horrendous and the battery tray is like new. My 745 needs a new battery tray and I'm lucky enough to have a mint one in my spares car - just have to cut it out ! The collective ages of my two 700s is now 63 yrs - scary !
Had a company 800 when I worked for a well-known sports car company a lifetime ago. However some of my car budget needs to go on one of my Mercedes before the summer's over - nothing serious, just some tlc. Jon. |

When I have the car back, and the images to hand. The rust is not in my sills or floor though; they and that are as solid as the day the car was built.
It has had a charmed life, in it's leafy Surrey town. Jon. |
