Default Very nice 164E for sale

Not mine, just saw it while browsing.

Possibly a little pricey, but the optimum spec (IMO) and must be one of the lowest mileage 164s in the UK at 35,000. Appears to be very, very good condition, but not perfect.

If it's as good as it looks, I'd pay £4k if I was in the market.

John

When I opened the 164E pic I thought it was mine for a minute - identical at first glance. Then I saw painted headlamp rims (mine are chromed) and those easily damaged 1800ES/164TE-style wheel rim embellishers.
I see aircon is listed - was that an option in '72? I didn't magnify the pics at all but my drivers seat has better black leather (!), my front numberplate isn't secured with tywraps and do I see a slight trace of rust around the o/s/r wheel arch? Nevertheless a very low mileage 164, as you say: mine has 99k on the clock now.
Now the question: my bonnet paintwork has faded due heat/sunlight to such an extent that most is now naff off-white primer. I am about to take it for estimates to refinish, but I seem to remember some expert recommending a special heatproof primer first. Can anybody confirm the best treatment before the final coat?
