Default Head removal T4

Another quick question, just trying to make life easier. To lift the head, must I remove the exhaust manifold, and turbo? If i have to remove turbo, is it best to unbolt above or below the flexi? Alread removed all ducting etc, belts, and the inlet manifold.

......Vadis says yes, remove exhaust manifold etc......but they are wrong on some things!!!......i would see if all the bolts are getatable easily whether above or below the flexi and remove the easiest ones.....of course you realise that the heavy weight on the rear of the head might make it difficult for lifting off as they do tend to stick down, also when putting back together the extra overhang of weight may make it difficult to hold over the engine squarely......it`s up to you really but i think i would rather take the exhaust manifold bolts off with the manifold and leave that and the turbo intact!!......

Thanks, split it above the flexi, manifold nuts off, looks like I may have missed a connection, three banjo nuts removed from turbo , and ducts, something still holding, watch this space..... Ahhhh a 90 degree pipe attached to the bottom of the turbo. A pig to get at.

......that is the oil overflow pipe, it should pull straight out the sump without undoing the two screws holding it to the turbo......but to assemble you will have to remove it first......but it will be easier to undo with it off the engine out in the open......

Thanks yet again, see it now, gonna remove turbo off manifold as thats stopping me clearing the manifold studs. Nuts are quite loose anyway. Have new gaskets so might as well use them.
