!800E & 240 Brakes
Can anyone confirm whether the front brake calipers on the 240 are the same as those fitted on the 1800E/ES (front). At a glance, they look the same.
Also, are the 240 REAR brake discs the same as the FRONT discs on the 1800E? Many thanks. |

RE: !800E & 240 Brakes
I don't know about the 1800 series cars but you will find that some 240 series will have Girling calipers at the front and ATE calipers at the rear. I believe that there is a section of the VIN that identifies the type of brakes fitted.
I would not think that the 240 rear disc is the same as the 1800 (or any other) front disk as the 240 rear disc incorporates a drum section for the handbrake. (First post in the PV Series forum!)

RE: !800E & 240 Brakes
Thanks for your reply.
I am aware of what you pointed out re Girling and ATE (mine are Girling front & rear), and also that the 240 rear disc incorporates an integral, machined inner drum. The 1800 front disc is similar in shape and looks to be of similar dimensions, but it contains (and needs) no machined internal surface, so it wouldn't matter in practice. I shall be comparing both calipers & discs tomorrow, so I will be able to find the answer to my question. Cheers. |
