Anybody had experience of any of the injector cleaner companies. I want to get my spare set cleaned and there are a few that you post away to so wondered if some were better than others ??

Cheers

I had mine done with Injectortune. £58 including return postage and was pretty fast.
Got a printout of the before and after results, however the before was nearly perfectly ok so not much of an improvement!! My car had done 185k miles on the injectors before they were cleaned but it has always been well serviced.

That's interesting. These are from my breaker which had 220k on it and had been sitting for about ten years. It did run well before I pulled the engine though

Yes, perhaps i should have said, that's per injector but i believe the postage is flat rate.

There are DIY kits available to set up a rig where the injector is opened and carb and air intake cleaner is squirted through until the pattern is better/ideal.

The friend that told me about them is just up the road at Necton and the funny thing is, when either of us walk into Hylton Gott Parts Dept with a part number written down, we both get the greeting "Volvo, Rover or combine harvester?"

Slight identity confusion there as i don't have a combine harvester but he does. He's found Volvos use the same parts (International Harvester or New Holland, can't remember which but both are Ford anyway) but we both have a Volvo and a Rover so it's understandable.

I've never used a company but I've had some success with in tank injector cleaning additives like these.

Thing is, the additive type cleaners can only do so much. It gets to a point at times when the only real way of cleaning the injectors properly is to remove them and have them cleaned (or set up your own cleaning rig, many vids on YT about it) to restore the proper sealing and flow characteristics.

The alternative is to replace the injectors with new ones or at the very least, replacements os similar/updated spec.

For example, on my 760, the original spec ones were NLA and they were really filthy. A set from a V6 Omega was found and fitted - they are identical to those used in much later 960 models and gave a vast improvement instantly. It also pushed the CO up considerably so i had to tweak that back but even after doing that, the performance and economy were both vastly improved.
