Default 740 Auto Estate - free

I have had my 1990 since new and like me it is now getting on a bit and has too many irritating little faults. I've decided if it can help out somebody who would maximise its final usefulness then that would be best. I would hate to simply scrap it. Just under 200,000 miles. 2.3l petrol carburettor. B230K engine. Red. No a/c.

I suppose I could sell it off bit by bit but to be honest I'd rather it went in one piece.
I've no idea of a reasonable price so shall we just say free to whoever can come and drive it away. It's still taxed and insured so a test drive would be legal. I live in Winchcombe, nr Cheltenham.

It's not in the best of condition but it does have 11 months MOT with 2 new tyres.
Things that need attention:
Heated rear window doesn't work.
Driver's heated seat doesn't work.
The overdrive switch/relay is temperamental - I never use it now but the gearbox is fine and will go into overdrive and the diff will lock
It has ABS but it doesn't work because one of the sensors seized and I broke it trying to get it out.
A decidedly dicky speedo and fuel gauge. I have a spare instrument panel but it's just as bad.
Headlining went and has been 'fixed' using a mattress cover!
Some instrument lights not working.
Rear seats will fold down but the mechanism broke and it has been 'fixed' with homemade pulls.
The choke sometimes sticks open when cold, but will close pretty quickly.
The radio has been replaced with a modern one but I still have the original.

I think that's it - I have garage bills going back donkey's years if you're interested. Oh - and I've got a rather grimy and well-worn Haynes manual for it.

I have sent you a PM although not sure if you have enough posts to use that system: please advise if you cannot respond.

Hi I'm very interested as I have the same car in blue with a Webber carb on her. This car would not be scrapped but slowly restored back to her former glory and used and shown on the Volvo owners club scene

I've been asked for some photos. here they are.
A warning about the dicky speedo - I took it out for a drive and the blessed thing is not registering at all at present!
So please take that into account if you are contemplating taking it a long way!

Triple-S was first to jump. I've just warned him about the dicky speedo - if he doesn't want it then next one on list gets a go.
As long as it goes to a good home! She's been a good 'un. Let me down once in 27 years. A new distributor fixed the fault.

I must admit I wasn't expecting such a positive response.

I paid £350 and drove halfway across the country for a car in much worse nick (although it's a B230E model with manual gearbox), so while you might be surprised, I'm not!
