Default Engine mount problems

Hi, I recenly was at salvo getting a new window regulator so i thought i'd treat my car to a much needed 2nd hand engine mount for the divers side at the same time. This has led to 2 problems.

1 - the bolt on the engine block nearest the bulk head was loose when i came to undo it. Didn't think anything till i came to put the bolt back in, and it just turned and turned and turned....... so does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it? leave well alone or try to re-thread and get a slightly larger diameter bolt, i'm worried the others will thread also if i remove it all again!! plus the current mount very very cracked......

2 - My car is a 1.8 (volvo 122hp) year 2000/2001 and has the newer style heater controls etc. The existing engine mount is of the old type with a bolt sitting horizonally. But my car has the bracket for the new syle upgraded engine mount. So i thought i'll upgrade it..... the mount came from a w reg 2.0 engine and looked perfect for the job in hand. I went to swap them today and it turns out that the holes don't line up as they should and i don't really want to push the engine around on the other mounts to force it to fit! Anyone else had this problem before, or have engine mounts got different brackets?

Regards
Phil

I've done a little research and i'm a little confused. The 1.8 of around my cars production had the old mount but in 2003 it had the uprated mount. But there is two different engine brackets as well, one for -1999 and one for after. I do realise that the mount i have bought is no good for me at the moment though, should of checked that first!!

Thus i'm a little confsued about which set up i have, anyone got any experience of this?

If you need the part that the mount is fixed to I have one spare. The one I have is part number 9146053..it was fitted to my engine for a short time because of the same problem you have with the lack of thread.
You might need the newer part number though which is for year 2000 on part number 8642201.

thanks! One question how easy was it to remove that bracket as it looks quite tight in there....?

I'll wait and see on the MOT test which is very soon, if it gets through then I'll start looking to see how much a new bracket is or what else i can do with it. And yes, I'm expecting a big big fail!!

Cheers
Phil

Not sure how easy/hard it is to change, local indy did it for me during a belt change. Wouldn't imagine it is too difficult though as he changed it while I waited when it came in.

If you do have to replace the mount, go for the uprated one. From experience, there wasn't much in it price wise, and it is an acknowledged weakness of the S/V40.
