Default Bottom intercooler pipe

Afternoon, bit unsure of something on my phase 2 1.9d, 2002 model with 145k miles on the clock

I had the pipe which goes from the turbo to the intercooler blow off at the join between the top rubber pipe and the aluminium section back in the summer whilst joining the A1M, new jubille clip and problem solved.

Recently I had a funny noise at 1800rpm, I was checking over a few weeks back and found that at the turbo the rubber pipe had moved away from the turbo about 1/2". So that got re-adjusted and tightened back up, and noise went away. Today when changing the oil I noticed that the bottom pipe to the intercooler is doing the same on the metal pipe, and then I checked the pipe at the turbo and it had moved again!

Does anyone know what could be causing to much pressure in the system, or is it normal and I should replace the hose clips and tighten back up? There is a small amount of oil in the pipes, which I cleaned out when doing the work, do I need to clean the intercooler out?

Cheers
Phil

I had the same issue with my t4, kept blowing the intercooler pipes off. I removed all the hoses and gave them a good clean as there will be a little bit of oil in there. Get on eBay and buy yourself some mikalor clamps in the right size and put them back on using those and bin the jubilee clips. Mine haven't come off since!

When was the EGR and intake last cleaned? Might be a build up of muck in the intake (silly idea to have an EGR on a diesel!) meaning that the pressurised air is basically getting to a blockage in the inlet which is then backing up and leaking out of wherever it can.

EGR and manifold was cleaned quite recently, EGR was clean but bit of build up in the manifold.

Put the two hoses back that had moved and tightened back up, will monitor for the next few days!

Cheers

Just order up the Mikalor clamps and you'll never worry again!

They look like they will do a proper job, if it does it again I'll be looking on ebay for some!

Cheers
