Engine swap B200K to B230K questions
I've found myself a nice low miler carbed 2.3 for my 360. Thinking about logistics I've only come to the conclusion that I'll have to swap the flywheel.
Please let me know if I'm wrong but all I can think is that I'll need to use the 360 flywheel on the B230K? I can't think of anything else I'll need to do other than transfer all the ancilleries with the engine (like that lovely split vacuum system that I have no idea for what purpose it serves). Or am I totally wrong, can I just use the B230 flywheel? |

As it's carbs you should be able to use any flywheel. You are very luck I'm having a bugger of a time getting the correct flywheel for my 2.3 360 conversion because of the ECU. May have to go with the carbs
Use the 360 flywheel is my advise as you know the clutch works with that flywheel. Any pics of your car? |

2.3
Hi guys just a big THUMBS UP
Good to see some 2.3's going into a 300. Years ago I was going to do a 2.8, but that pretty much involved rebuilding the whole front end, but 2.3 sounds like a more sensible idea. Good luck chaps Rusty |

ok thanks guys! I was just worried that the 360 flywheel wouldn't work with the ignition timing but thinking about it - I don't think it even has a sensor down there?
I was going to do the V6 too! But I found out that it just wasn't worth the bother. Pictures? Sure! She's a little low... Build topic is here if you fancy a read: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-u...hp?f=2&t=12843 And because I'm a whore and you love pictures this was my old one, with the Williams engine: Last edited by Speedy88; Apr 20th, 2012 at 15:22. |

That looks really tidy. I want to find a 360 now. The 340 is sooo underpowered lol ad the on I've picked up is to good to ruin/modify. would be nice if it was just stashed away and looked after.

It looks fairly tidy but close up it has some problems. The paint is dull and the drivers seat is a bit wrecked. All just thinkings to fix though, of course.

You'll definitely have a crank position sensor on the bellhousing, Mark... as your car will have Renix. My only concern is will Renix be compatible with running the 2.3. I mean, it will run - but will the timing be correct?! Perhaps you could run some sort of stand alone ignition control. While you're swapping engines, I would definitely be inclined to fit a slightly hotter cam. Also - is your B230K the 'heron' style engine?

Not sure what you mean by that. But failing it running on the original renix, I can't see why it would be difficult to just put the one from the 240 in there!
