Just don't overcook it, the standard turbo and manifold can't really take this level of boost without a cooling period. No top speed tests, stuff will crack! Also make sure all the manifold bolts are good, especially the hard to access manifold bottom bracket and the clutch housing hoop.
My 13c does 60 in 7.5s at 11psi. It is non-ac which helps keep the weight down. |

crack
The 13c hotside can get cracked and it's thrust bearing doesn't like too much boost. A 15g turbo at 10psi beats a 13c at 14psi too

I also mess with mk2 Golfs and the BHP gain per $ is a joke compared to these 940s. They do go whip round corners a little more efficiently just not sideways enough. I'd like to see the pic if it's not too much trouble. Cheers

Ok, so had a look under the bonnet to eye up the situation and buy some bits and ran into a few things unexpected.
All of the ports on my inlet manifold are in use - have vacuums leading somewhere - I have no boost gauge at present. Obviously I can just tap a pipe with a t-piece but I'm confused when I hear the LPT should have blanked/spare ports. Then the turbo to actuator pipe is a little different. Rather than a pipe running directly from the turbo to the actuator, pipes run from both these positions to something in front of the airbox which looks a bit like another actuator or vacuum operated switch of some kind which has a third pipe leading to god knows where and an electronic plug on the side. EDIT This is what I was talking about: I'm now discovering this is a solenoid valve for electronically controlled boost as part of a turbo+ system fitted to some 940's. I had heard of this system but did not think it would come on LPTs. I'm going to have to do more research before I go any further.

Has your airbox got Turbo written on it??
Certainly sounds like the Turbo+ system as fitted to the 190bhp Sports!

The clear pipe runs around the engine bay and through a grommet on the passengers side firewall through to under the glove box, and through to my boost gauge. Hope this helps!

That's exactly where I tee'd mine - but I ran my pipe through some flexible plastic pipe conveniently installed at the Volvo factory but unused until now...
I bought my boost gauge off Fleabay, and whilst it was great during the day, I had to cover it at night as the illumination was so bright it blinded you in the dark! I have today solved this by inserting a second sliding brightness adjuster in a blank space to the left of the steering wheel (adjacent to the one that adjusts the brightness of the dash lights), and wired the boost gauge light through it, so now it can be dimmed or even turned completely off - which has made a big difference!!

940 Wentworth
Just read this thread having signed up yesterday (saturday) and I'm wondering if this mod can be done on my 2 litre turbo Wentworth, '94 0n an M plate. I have read a lot of threads here and still don't know if I'm running an LPT or an HPT and how many horses are lurking under the magnificent span of metal known to some as the bonnet. Certainly on a couple of occaisions since I bought it (3 weeks back), I have had to floor the pedal joining dual carriageways and seems to get up to speed (60ish) quite quickly. I;m guessing it's the LPT with 155?hp, I dunno.....
Ta in advance for any replies. |

All 2.0 turbos are HPT ~ 155bhp.
LPT's started appearing 96' onwards. |

Forgive my ignorance but I've never modified a turbocharged car before, Mine is a late 1990, 740 Intercooler Turbo, I have no idea what turbo its fitted with or if the engine has the 13mm con rods...
B230FT, with AW Automatic transmission. The trans shouldn't have an issue with the extra power should it? Cheers Cheza
