Strange question I know, but why are you changing it and what make of pump are you fitting?

in terms of cost, £253 for 5-6 hours is a pretty decent rate anyway isn't it?

last time I had anything done it was more like £80p/h

My usual mechanic is probably the cheapest in the world eg fit thermostat unit top up coolant add seals like steel run for just over an hour and check
£30 labour
Fit heater matrix £20 labour
Oil change £10 labour
Garage is a family business for over 60 years mechanic/owner now working for 40+ years
So the price I mentioned does seem dear to me plus 6 hours??

That's sad, I preach about volvo water pumps on here and have seen it so many times before, a perfectly good Volvo water pump (what ever the age or mileage) is thrown away to be replaced by a cheap poor quality one which leaks shortly after.

I have failed in my mission it seems, that was one of the culprits.
why risk it as it could wreck the engine.
