I think that it was in the late 70s/early 80s when I was working that area that the garage was one of the “coffee stops”. I think that my own car at the time was a Mk3 Cortina. I mentioned that the dust boot on one of the track rod ends was split. It may have been Andy, or his brother whose name escapes me, who delved into their scrap bin and produced a knackered track rod end with an excellent boot thereon and advised that I simply replace my split boot with the good one from that track rod end, which I did and it worked fine.
