Hi.
If memory serves, on a run I could get 35mpg out of my 2.0i SE, but around town I think 28 was the norm. My Turbo was a little less than that, but it also only had a 9 gallon tank, so filling up was a commonplace occurence! Interestingly, the least powerful 440 I had, a 1.7 GLE carb model, had the worst mpg, (thats what happens without metered fuel I suppose...) however it did improve when I removed the cat from the exhaust. (It was a 1991 model with a 2 way unregulated cat, so it was fine to remove it). It also made it go soooo much better! Cheers, Dan. |

I average 28 around town.
Don't do many long runs, but from the little I have I'd say around 33-35. That's in a 2.0i SE |

My 2.0i 480 ES (I think B20F) gets a combined fuel economy of 32.5mpg, if the info centre computer is to be believed. I reset it when I bought it in April and haven't done so since, so this is a good mixture of motorway and round-town driving, over about 2500 miles.

30-40mpg in a 440 1.8Xi
I've filled my 440 1.8Xi twice since I bought it at the start of the month. I do a 25 mile round trip every day, mix of stop-start and 40-50mph runs.
First one worked out at just over 30mpg. But then I did spend an hour stuck in very slow traffic and was still getting used to the car. Last check was 38 mpg. That included an extra 100 mile run across motorway. I check mpg at every fill up as it is a pretty good way of spotting problems coming down the line... Ross |

Quite happy with my 460 1.6 at the moment.
When I first got the car it did just over 35 MPG, after having it for about 4 months it went down to a dissapointing 33... New spark plugs brought it back to 35 and now after an oil change its now managing over 38! (My old 1.2 car only managed 39MPG on same roads) Can't help but wonder if its 'coz the exhaust has a hole in it somewhere lol as theres a slight blow/rattle occasionally...

I used to get about 42 to the gallon on a decent run from my 2.0L 480ES. Terrific engine, great car. I'd have one again but have no space for one just yet. My 855 2.5L 20valve gives 34 mpg - not bad for its size and weight (I wish it was a diesel). Dunno what the 1800S gives - it is still in the garage.

mpg
i drive a 440 2.0 glt (1993)which ive fitted an eco-tev valve CB-26 to and found that on the motorway i can get just over 400 miles on a full tank, its a great wee widget that fits on to the servo pipe and only costs £45, its a universal fitment and found that it works best on long hall journeys, apparently can up your mpg by as much as 27%, looks good under the bonnet too as it can have a small filter on it also, duno what the mpg would be but 400 miles on 1 tank is good as far as i know, tuners dont like them but you can turn it off, if it saves £££s on fuel then it must be a gid idea, ive had it fitted to my car since i bought it 3 years ago and would definately advise getting one, ope this helps folks !
