Resonator size problems
I replaced the resonator box (after the turbo hot side) just under 2 years ago.
This was due to the common and known issue with the failing orange seals on the genuine volvo box. Fit and forget they said. My replacement silicone hose fitted easily and has worked flawlessly until now, the issue is that the pipe has rubbed a hole where the gearbox bolt head has been touching the pipe. I purchased another pipe from fleabay and this one although having the correct dimensions in length/bend angle and inside diameter is too thick. The original silicone one has thickness 5mm the rubber 7mm. This extra 2mm makes a significant difference to the outer radius and caused 2 problems: firstly it was nearly impossible to fit the clip and pipe due to access on the turbo end secondly the clips were too small. After spending nearly 2 hours trying to fit this one I ended up replacing the holed one (after a lot of tape) in 5 minutes. New one 5mm should be delivered today. Unless someone else can give further information as to replacement pipe and thicknesses I would say the purpose of this post is twofold: 1) Dont buy a resonator replacement pipe that is 7mm thick get a thinner one 2) Make sure your pipe does not touch or rub on the gearbox when fitted.
