If it's not one thing.....(vibration)
I love my car, I took my car down to the garage I've grown accustomed to for the past 5 years, with a funny "chinking" noise coming from the gearbox, not only did he fix that, but also cured my poor idling worry aswell. Turns out the chinking was a loose hubcap.....durrr! sounds simple, but if your a bit mechanically challenged like me......
the idling was down to the perishing vacuum hose off the servo.......something i'd looked at, but thought, hmmm, "must change that soon" 2 months later..........still not done. anyways, both solved, lovely jubbly, thanks very much. Driving to and from work last night/this morning, a horrible vibration starts at anything over 40mph, the sort of vibration that sends your leg and side funny. all down my left hand side, all through the chair, but gear stick was fine, no more shaky than normal. Any idea's? James

It could well be a prop problem - could be a uj starting to seize. Usually wheel balance only occurs severely at one speed - usually a 10mph band.

Mine went like that once. I found that if I eased off the accelerator, then took up the drive again, sometimes the worn U/J would take up a position where it didn't vibrate. Obviously I fixed it pretty quickly, but it made the last unavoidable long journey reasonably bearable.
Halfords do the U/J kits, but you need to be careful to get the correct size. |
