Aerial not working
Hi, my electric aerial stopped working a while ago and I've tried diagnosing the problem.
The signal to the relay seems to be fine, 12v with radio off, 0v when on. Correct? Now, coming out of the relay are three wires, the bl/w and bl/purple don't seem to change even though I can hear the relay click. Are they supposed to? What is the yellow wire for? Can this relay be fixed or can I buy a new one cheap somewhere? Here is a picture: http://www.morsing.cc/photos/aerial_relay.jpg Thanks!

Looking at your photo the first thing I'd try is removing the screw securing the black earth (ground/chassis) wire from the relay, and cleaning any corrosion, then replace it and see if that works.
If that doesn't help try using a 12 volt supply to operate the aerial and ensure it's working - there are a few options - run a test lead from a spare battery or charger perhaps. Last edited by Glen Morangie; Mar 24th, 2006 at 14:31. |

Hi, the ariel comes up in about 1 in 10 times I turn on the radio so I think it's a connection issue rather than the aerial not working.
Now, I don't know what to supply 12v to? Thanks
