Three 240 estates on the drive. I have just arrived back with my new purchase and now have a run of 3 - 1989/90/91 models, and two pairs - 2 x GLT, and 2 x silver/gray paintwork. It funny what you think about when motorway driving!


The SE is due an MOT next week. I know the tailgate electrics need sorting, at least two tyres, and a damn good clean. There are a couple of other issues, but if you are interested then pm me and we can go from there.

Hi folks

I am really really tempted by a 240 estate (115K on the clock, 1993, 750 quid). I will be upgrading from a Golf diesel estate. How bad is the fuel consumption - what can i expect around the town, on a run, at 70, at 50. Any help would be much appreciated.

About half that of a golf diesel.

I get about 23mpg around town, or around 33mpg on a run.

You will notice the difference, but a 240 costs less in the 1st place to buy than a golf
