New XC90 Active - 3 weeks and counting....
Big hello to all,
Must say I'm really impressed by the depth of knowledge on this board (having skimmed through the last 62 pages of posts!). Have had my XC90 Active Geartronic for 3 weeks now and absolutely loving it. I do, however, have a couple of (minor) concerns. Firstly, fuel consumption - the car has done 700 miles and averages 22.9 mpg despite my best efforts to shift it to 23mpg. I know it's barely out of it's shell and that the mpg should pick up, but I drive like a saint and well within speed limits at all times. Most of my driving is school runs, shopping trips and 10 or 20 minute journeys up and down dual carriageways. Other new owners seem to be getting around the 26mpg mark. Is my mpg normal for my circumstances? Secondly, there's a sqealing noise coming from the brake pedal (not the brakes themselves). It's more annoying then anything else and you can't hear it with the stereo on. Is it just a case of a new car loosening up or something I should take up with the supplying dealer? Apart from those issues, the car is an absolutely brilliant drive and a quality piece of kit. Have generally had a good response from most people, but a few have glared at me /given me dirty looks (motorists, that is). Might be being paranoid, but I get the feeling the day running lights annoy some road users. Kind regards to everyone and looking forward to reading future posts Affy |

5 days and counting
Hi I've had mine for 65 days
except for the parking brake issue it brill Good view point and good acceleration. Haven't looked at fuel consumption yet. Was advised to put a chip/box upgrade for consumtion and bhp increase looking into this Litttle squeak from passenger side will keep you posted |

I get around 35 mpg out of my 53 plate with 90k on the clock so I'm sure yours will improve over time!
Thinking of changing mine soon too. Enjoy |

Parking brake takes a little getting used to. Do you have a manual or geartronic? I can imagine on the manual hill starts wouldn't be straightforward. Looked into issue of chipping it, but from the posts I've read the mpg only seems to increase due to trip computer callibrations being effected; the actual consumption remains the same. Still, the increase in bhp alone would probably be worth it. Did you get a complimentary 3 month check from the dealer? I was told by salesman that any little niggles/squeaks/rattles would be sorted out then. Affy |

Thanks, I really hope you're right about the mpg, but I'm going to enjoy driving it anyway (too good a car in every other respect not to :-)). Are you upgrading? (if I had the money I'd get the R-Design for looks alone!) Affy |

Its a geartronic,
The footpedal doesnt seem to hold the car on a hill whilst in reverse and taking your foot off the foot brake and placing it on the accelerator. Will get it sorted But I do enjoy driving it |

Hi bobmech1 , get your dealer to check the brake ours holds fine while in gear (geartronic) . Having to get used to this as all other autos I've driven used to knock the lever into neutral and put handbrake on (had the car 6 weeks now) . Other than that loving every minute these are so comfortable just be glad when the engine starts to get run in and fuel consumprion improves , not a major issue as its fun putting the right foot down as these cars go for their size .
