Flametrap eh? never heard of it. i must have a look through these forums for it. So you think it's that rather than a big hole in some gasket or other? I'm hopeing the new castrol GTX i've put in may be too thick to leak! haha!

Hi Dez,

ya you'd easily miss it . on my car if you look at where the air intake attaches to the trottlebody you will see a black pipe on the righthand side going to a plastic container.
there should also be a tube going from the inlet manifold to it as well. remove both pipes from this device and pull it upwards to remove.

look underneath it and you should see a sieve like filter. this is the flametrap.
you can soak it in carb cleaner and use a pin to remove any baked in oil or just buy a new one. Make sure all pipes are not blocked

regards

brendan

found it, and it was caked up! spent some of the evening poking at it with a pin cleaning the wee holes. There was some whitish sludge around as well but thats all gone now. I will check it later this week to see if i still have a leak.. All the best!
