Default Upgrade Reversing Lights to LED

Hi,

Has anyone upgraded their standard reversing lights to LED ones similar to item 270415334545 on ebay?

I have upgraded the sidelights but only with single LED's (which need to be replaced with something brighter).

Does the bulb failure system get activated by the reverse lights? I know that using LED's with brake lights etc would trigger this warning.

Would also want to convert my V70 if they are ok.

Any help/advice greatly received.

JP

Hi JP,
I haven't checked the reversing bulbs personally - but you need to check the pin alignment arrangememt is correct as well.
I was going to do my indicator bulbs (and include the resistor pack) but didn't realise the pins are not only offset height wise - but also around the circumference so the ones I got wouldn't fit.
I've done my front sidelights and my rear number plate bulbs - but haven't ventured any further -- I was going to look at the mirror puddle lights next when I get round to it..

Cheers
Ian

You are ok to replace any of the lights with LED except the brake lights, the bulb failure warning light on your dashboard only works if one of your brake lights has failed, you can use led replacement bulbs for brake lights but you will have to use ballast resistors to stop the bulb fail light from coming on.

Bulbs arrived today and fitted easily. From outside they look great with a crisp xenon blue light - much brighter to look at than the old ones.

It's a shame that the perceived brightness doesn't actually continue to illuminate anything whilst you are reversing the car!!!

I had to replace with the old bulbs as they are next to useless at illuminating your path.

I think these will be heading for the MG as tail lights as they do stand out better - they just don't illuminate your path at all.

Save your money...unless you only reverse in areas with ample street lighting!!

The search continues...

I agree with you regards the brightness of the led reversing lights, they LOOK very bright but do not throw much light out to help with reversing (I tried them on my last car) having said that standard bulbs tend not to throw much light out as well.
You could always give these a shot,Item # 300353376417.
