Yes, I am. When I bought the car it was like your's. But after a service update, somebody decided to put the ABL on/off on the light switch instead of the constant high beam possible thing. There were already two different places in the menu where you could switch ABL on and off, something I never do, but now I have three methods.

Actually, when I bought the car constant high beam was possible in 0 position too, but only when it was dark outside. In position 1 it was always possible. Not they are the same in that respect.

I had mine set to "normal car" mode as a pre-requisite to buying it from the dealer

so the lights are OFF when it says "0"

Only downside, is that unlike many cars I don't get a verbal warning if I exit the car leaving the lights on...

I really don't get the point of burning electricity and lights when it's sunny

They are Day running lights , now a legal requirement on cars since 2012 , A point volvo proved was a safety factor 41 years ago when they first fitted them ... It might be worth pointing out that you have disabled them to your insurance company as Day running lights are part of the reason your insurance is reasonable ...

It's when it is sunny and the sun is in your eyes that DRL's are most likely to reduce the chance of hitting an oncoming vehicle. Personally, I would rather burn an extra few pence of fuel per tank and replace bulbs a little more often if it makes even a 1% chance of avoiding an accident. I run my non-Volvo cars with side lights on at all times as it makes my just that little more visible to other road users.
