Default What I did on my holidays

Just got back to That London from Cornwall and decided to share my experiences in the XC90. After two weeks and just over 1000 miles, I've returned with a lot of respect for the car. Yes there were a few annoying moments, but on the whole it's been great fun.

It's as relaxing as you want it to be
With the ACC set to the normal motorway cruising speed, the M4 and M5 were a doddle. Okay, with 3 distance bars selected, other cars kept pulling in front of me, but I'm on holiday, so who cares? I've no complaints about road noise either; even on the 22" wheels I arrived home today after 4 1/2 hours driving feeling absolutely fine.

It copes with its size well
I had a bit of fun in Dynamic setting and using the flappy paddles on some of the flowing country A roads. The fun had to stop when The Boy in the back complained he was feeling a bit queasy though...

But it's not as small as it thinks it is
I wish the Navigation wasn't so keen on sending you down the smallest roads; there should be a setting to avoid them, like there is for tolls, motorways, tunnels, etc. (Please don't tell me there is...) The locals really don't like cars like this and I hate looking like I can't drive as I creep past another knackered Renault Kangoo on a single track road. At least I know the 360 degree cameras work now.

There's lots of room in here
My sister-in-law joined us for a few days, so my 9-year-old daughter got to experience the third row of seats. She's not one to suffer in silence, so I'm assuming she was happy back there. With the third row put away again, the boot really is huge too.

I'm never having another car without a panoramic roof
It's great to be able to see all those clouds. Even when there's lots of rain falling from them.

VOC is great
I think I've become a nerd. Loved looking at the figures on the app every now and again. And 32mpg isn't that bad, considering the kind of roads I've been on lately.

Spotify is rubbish
Signed up but gave up trying to use it. Every time I switched it on, I got locked out of Facebook. Finally figured out the car needed its own password and then it tells me I need Premium. Back to Radio 2, USB sticks, CDs and Bluetooth for now then.

There are still a few glitches
Got a message while on the motorway saying Park Assist wasn't working, even though it was, and also occasionally got a mysterious black line down the middle of the map on the driver display. Any ideas what that was about?

It really is a good-looking car
Two months after buying it, and even when it's splattered in mud and God knows what else, I look back at it as I walk away and have that smug feeling.

Thank you for reading - I've now got to go for another drive. Supermarket this time though. The holiday is officially over.

It looks like quite a lot of us are getting the park assist message lately, so be assured its not your car, its a software issue by the looks of it.

If you are getting a black line down your driver display, especially if in the same place, sound like a bad screen, unless anyone can shed more light.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Not that I have any choice.
