122 ign'n switch
Hi, had an email from an acquaintance asking for help re' ign'n switch. extract below.
The reason for this email is that I need some advise from you if possible! I suspect that my Ignition Coil has given up the ghost! this is not a ease task to do the a replacement due to the Coil and Ignition Switch and Armed guarding the Cable is in one piece. While removing this lot I came to a stop at the IG Switch when trying to take it apart at the dash!. there is a pin to be press at the barrel of the IG SW that when pressed you suppose to take it apart and remove it from the dash. From under the dash there is barely no room to get to it. I don't have experience with 122 so advice appreciated.

Many years ago I had to swap my coil/switch assembly, and from memory one has to have the ignition key turned to the first setting beyond 'off' so that it can be withdrawn on the key when that plunger is pushed in. Agree it isn't easy - I had to put my head where my feet usually are!
There just maybe a couple of small screws to undo too, but as I've more recently changed ign/steering lock on my 164 may be a bit confused, but I do remember that plunger on my 122S. P |

Loosening the 2 screws that hold the ignition switch bracket to the lower dash will allow some movement of the tumbler and allow getting to the pin easier;
Above info correct...Ignition key MUST be in place and turned to "1" position as noted in order to depress the pin. If that cannot be done i.e. key lost, or broken in place, the pin must be ground flat with e.g. Dremel, and then the tumbler can be extricated. Easiest to do all this with the seat removed, believe me.
