Unhappy Wanted: part 7210941 for 360 GL 1987

My Volvo 360 GL has lost its spark! Garage says it needs part no 7210941 (whatever that is) and cannot get one from Volvo dealers. Does anyone know what this is, and does anyone have one please?

Not really.
Perhaps they can give a partnumber an older version of the part, preferably starting with either a 1 or a 3, or perhaps you can describe what is actually wrong.
For as far as I know, 7 digit partnumbers starting with a 7 were never used.
What engine is inside, before you say "a redblock" or a 2 litre, (carb/inj)?

Sorry, they haven't told me exactly what is wrong. All I know is it won't start because there is no spark. They claim not to know the common name of the part. They, and I, have been searching the internet for this part to no avail, so I thought I might have more success with the part description.

Not sure of the answer to 'what engine is inside', apart from '2 litre'. I just drive the thing!

No spark is down to a few possibilities: flywheel sensor (that's my guess what the part number is for), then there's HT coil (I don't know about 360 but on the 340's it's a mapped Renix device that I've never known fail. Then you're left with the spark distribution system; HT leads and distributor.

Well, is it fuel injected or does it have a carburettor?

I hope that you have opened the bonnet more than once?

Can you ask your workshop for a proper description of the failure?
Also a pic of the broken part could help.......

@ Joe Harding: if it is a fuel injected one it can also be the injection relay (bloody expensive thing)

Thanks everyone for your interest. I still don't know what it is, but the garage has found one, and the car is now going like new!

Did the garage staff show you what it was and where they fitted it? If so perhaps you could post up a couple of pics to let us all see and be enlightened.
