Tow bar wanted
Yes I am back on stream to try to get one. Nobody seems to want the car so I need to do things.

Fridazadilak has posted that he has a folding tow bar available.
If all goes well I may have a genuine Volvo dual height tow bar and double electrics mounting plate, no sockets or wiring, for sale in the Autumn. But I'm in Thurrock. Have you tried the "Towing And Caravan Topics" section of the forum? I have seen genuine Volvo tow bars on eBay for about £25 at times. I guess a secondhand tow bar would need to be near enough for you to collect it, or meet the seller somewhere. The tow bars are heavy and large. Carriage would be difficult to package, and pricey compared to the value of the tow bar. Getting a secondhand tow bar probably comes down to how soon you need it, and whether one becomes available near to you. . Last edited by Stephen Edwin; Jul 23rd, 2017 at 21:39. |

P.S. I suspect the folding type tow bars and the brand new tow bars on eBay will not give as "rock solid" a towing experience as the genuine Volvo lump of metal thing of beauty and a joy to behold battleship dual height tow bars. So it will be worth considering what weight you will tow, what distance and how often.
As I recall from other cars in the 1970s, same models as each other and same load being towed but different makes of tow bar, there's the load a tow bar is designed and safe to tow, vs the load a tow bar will tow without flex feelable by the driver and occupants. Towing a weight or over a distance, it matters. |
