Default ABS reluctor ring

Hi, got ABS issue on an S80 V8 2007 my friend owns.

possible reluctor ring issue, as its only one wheel (rear left according to his code reader, haven't been with car to confirm yet)

I cant seem to find any info on the ABS rings, no part number on any Volvo Factory fiche. Are these rings the same as any other P3 vehicle? T6/V8 XC90 or the likes?

Or does anyone know how many teeth a V8 reluctor ring has? 48 like all the rest of the marques?

Cheers

p3 might not have rel rings might be the type that are within the wheel bearing check by doing a euro car parts search with reg number

tried that first, cant get ANYTHING driveline related thru them. Volvo want £350+ for it as you cant get it on its own, you have to buy a driveshaft. WTF is wrong with modern day vehicles with this "built in obsolescence / dealer only"

presumably its a radial magnet bonded to the CV joint then

Gimme pre ME7 Volvos over this new crap any day

If the reluctor ring is fixed to the drive shaft, you can buy them separately on the internet for about £3 each. The reason that the manufacturers don't sell them is that they buy in the shafts with the rings attached and merely assemble them to the car so their parts inventory never had separate rings in it and since fitting a ring involves removing the shaft, they don't advise their dealers to do this as with all the work involved, the whole operation could be undermined by damage or discovered wear to the shaft . From a labour point of view the dealer would spend more time fitting the ring to the shaft than fitting the shaft to the car. I don't blame them but if you fit the rings yourself, or have an indie garage do it cheaply for you, it is not an expensive job. The shaft has to be thoroughly cleaned before offering up the ring which can be heated to expand it to fit onto the shaft and contract tightly when it cools.

i know you can buy ABS rings for Volvos, but not this style. ive got a drawer full of 48tooth ones and fitted many before but these aren't those.

they look like flat plates/dishes, not the toothed. Y0u cant get them anywhere, nor does VIDA disclose a part number.

they aren't used on any other model except the v8 awd and theyre different to XC90 ones.

Glad I don't own one of these newer Volvos, theyre just Fords in drag

From what I can tell within Vida, there are no replaceable abs rings.
Front and rear magnetic pulse rings are built into the wheel bearing so a new bearing assembly would be required.

Even on older Volvos like my 2002, the rear abs "ring" is within the wheel bearing so it's not a new or Ford thing.

I know Ford never had a huge hand in the P2 (except the finance dept where they ran riot on shaving costs everywhere) but they owned them from 99, so it technically is Ford

why did Volvo try and sell me a driveshaft if its within the bearing? hmmmm

it seems Rybrook Warrington Parts are up to their old tricks again.

Dunno but there's clearly no ring on the shaft itself.

It's a common shaft too used on a few different Volvo models so easy to find should it ever need replacing.
