Default V70 TDi SE Auto 1998 - For Sale

It pains me to do this but I have finally come to terms with the fact that I cannot afford to keep two cars on the road so will be selling the V70 soon.

I need to use the car for the next few weeks so it won't be officially for sale until early September, but as a heads up I'll post anyway.

So the good bits:

V70 TDi Auto - 4 speed box.
MoT Test due late March 2018
Currently on approx 172K miles - this will increase a little over the next month or so but not drastically.
Lots of money spent in the last 2 years including but not limited to:

Suspension completely renewed - everything between the chassis and steering knuckle on the front suspension is very new, mounts, bearings, lower arms, shock absorbers (Bilstein B4s), springs (KYB), even the dust covers have all been replaced.

Similarly the rear suspension is all relatively new in the last two years. New shocks (Monroe Load Levelers), new springs (MAD Progressive - worth £200 new alone) and mounts have all been renewed.

Front offside wheelbearing is new, both driveshafts are brand new as of January/February this year.

Both handbrake cables are new and both rear calipers are new and still shiny.

ABS ECU is recon but I also have a known good spare, which I will supply with the car.

Engine is strong and benefits from new high flow injectors (0.240 nozzles), fitted late summer last year, at a cost of over £500 from United Diesel.

The gearbox has been well maintained and has had a full fluid change within the last couple of years and then a partial change every oil service. It also benefits from an auxiliary external ATF cooler.

The exterior is better than average and the paint buffs up lovely. The front and rear bumpers were professionally painted late last year and the car always receives positive comments from passersby on its condition and its unusual colour (Sandstone Pearl Metallic).

The interior is ok, not scabby but not showroom condition either. Being beige it does show the dirt a bit more but is still clean and presentable. The driver's seat has been replaced and it's not an exact match - it has a bit more leather to it than the original, but is a match in terms of colour and trim.

I have also just fitted a fuel cooler as since the injector upgrade the fuel temps were a bit high.

Tyres are all very new and have much tread left - it was tracked only about 200 miles ago so should have no issues with wearing tyres unevenly at all.

Fuel pump belt is also quite new - about two years old and the timing has just been done. It always starts first time, every time.

Crank engine mount has just been replaced.

The not so good bits:

It does have an oil leak - coming from the oil pump gasket I do believe. Paradoxically, despite the leak the oil level never drops between oil changes so it can't be a huge leak.

The cam-belt service is undocumented but was done shortly before I purchased the car at about 130K miles. I do have a full Gates Cam/Water Pump kit that I just haven't got around to sorting and that I will include with the car. I will also include the official Volvo crank pulley holding tool for the D5252T engine.

All in all it's a great car that drives without fault. Obviously, as it's nearing 20 years old it won't be perfect and will have cosmetic flaws consummate with its age. I have lots of history and receipts which I can supply and the V5 is present and in my name. I honestly wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere at a moments notice.

It has been used for towing occasionally but hasn't had a hard life and always performs well.

I will try to post some pictures when I can but it might be quicker to PM me with your email address and let me send some from my phone.

In terms of price I'm asking £975 or nearest offer. I won't take silly offers as I'd probably get quite a bit back in parts if I chose to break it instead or sell it whole.

Couple of photos below but these were taken before the front and rear bumpers were repainted.

I've seen that effect in a few posts in this forum lately.

Photobucket have effectively broken all forums by restricting hosting unless the user pays them $399 per year.

All of my threads now have no pictures, and anyone else who uses Photobucket will be in the same boat very soon, if they're not already.

Theoretically, one could move their pictures to a different hosting site, but the links would need changing on every single photo, in every thread, in every forum you've posted them.
Literally thousands of pictures for me

My way round it is the way I've always used.

I just copy and paste the images straight from my computer rather than use a photo hosting site coz I have so little trust of some hosts!

I think I emailed them from phone to myself then logged on PC & pasted to desktop and finally attached when typing up post.

Back to the car in question - a well kept car externally & mechanically.

I have seen this car and it really is a good one. I don't want to promote it too much because I don't want the owner to sell it!! But I'm sure the new owner will he very happy with it.

That's why I copy and paste. All my important pictures stay on my pc which, me being anal, is backed up regularly and any extremely important stuff is saved individually on a usb stick.

But, I do run a peculiar methodology! I have two hard drives on my pc; one is purely 'system' stuff and the other is purely 'data' stuff. And that 2nd drive is a removable one so that I can store it somewhere safe if I'm away for a few days.

OK. All rather 'nerdy' and belt and braces; but I have been glad of it once in the past when I had a serious computer 'crash' in that I could just reload the system (groan and pull out what remaining hair there was) and know that my data was protected and safe. And then, later in life, when I got a newer pc. Just installed the removable HDD and there was my data safely transferred.

Yup. I know. I should get a life!

Currently have a mate very interested in this, especially as it ticks all the right boxes for him.
Auto, ATF cooler, all the important work done...

If all goes to plan, I'm sure I'll be calling you for some ECU magic, Fella
