Default Caris going into limp mode

Drove the car to Glasgow and back today it's about a 150 mile round trip on the way home I went to over take someone and the car gave a shudder then went into limo mode. Luckily I had my odb2 scanner in the car and it was tshowing a fuel pressure fault it's a 1.6d. I cleared the code and it happened another 2 times before I made it home. Is it more likely I need a new fuel filter or a new pump?

I would try the filter first but if it has been changed according to the service schedule its unlikely to be that. Don't panic though, there are few other cheaper things that could have failed other than the fuel pump.

We'll be driving through Lochgilphead on our way from Portsmouth to Campbeltown in a couple of weeks. wish me luck, 4 dogs two kids and one wife in the car!

What did you replace the XC90 with? Mine's going in for a last-ditch DPF clean & sensor check/replacement tomorrow...Enjoy the road trip!

We've got a Toyota Hilux now. It has fixed the problem completely, I haven't had to add a single drop of oil since I replaced the XC90 in its entirety!
