Default Clutch recommendations

Safe to say I need a clutch as noticed it slips this morning heading to work. Anyone had any experiences buying/fitting a clutch and dmf to a 2.0d v70 2009?

Can get a luk and sachs kit for around 400 each..... that's on eBay haven't checked trade yet.

I've heard luk is a better clutch overall but Sachs is safer when the dmf goes?

Thanks.

.

I fitted a LUK fulk 4 piece kit in my Mrs V50 and it was identical to the LUK one that came out apart from the "FoMoCo" markings....

Bought a full luk kit..... the Sachs seems more expensive and luk gets a better reputation.

Where's best to get tips on the change? Pictures ect? I've ordered a Haynes manual but don't know if torque specs ect will be incuded.

Mine has done 140k. I wouldn't worry much if you can't tell there isn't anything wrong. I bought the car last month with a pulsating clutch pedal and expected to change the clutch/flywheel but it's slipping now and rather fix when I have time.

My last v50 never had a clutch and was almost at 180k and I got the car when it was around 130k and the last 50k miles weren't driven easily and still going strong 🙄.

I changed mine at 137K (V70 2009 2.0L PSA Engine) ......... the clutch was fine but the DMF was very noisy at idle ........... close inspection revealed that most of the springs had given up ! ....... also I had a weep from the crankshaft oil seal which was only going to get worse.

I used an LUK kit which was identical to what came out (OEM), however, getting to be a lazy git in my old age I got a good friend who owns a garage to do it for me ........ all in at under £1K ....... well, well pleased.

Unless you have the volvo centralising tool dont use a volvo seal !

when I did the crankshaft pulley oil seal I used a genuine volvo seal and it leaked like a sieve .......... I decided the issue was alignment so I used an Elring seal with the built in plastic alignment bush and its been perfect.

The grease monkey that did my clutch was telling me has seen all sorts of problems with the genuine volvo seal in the in the past and he also used an elring seal with a built in plastic centralising ring.

With regard to changing the clutch ........ the guy dropped the front subframe just low enough that he could part the g/box from the engine ......... It doesnt need to come down very far (a few inch's) ...........I dont think he even needed to diconnect much (if anything) in the engine bay ...... start to finish was about 3 - 4 hours ............. but he is their clutch / G/box specialist and it is pretty much all he does every day !

Thanks for the advise, where did you buy your seal from?

I'm waiting for the company I bought the clutch and dmf to send me out a luk csc as they sent an unbranded one! Soon as I have it all I'm going to get the car in the air if the weather stays dry.
