S60 bought to start a charity, problems, can you help?
Hi to all, hope everyone is well.
I thought that I would give an update on the car I bought to start my charity for mentally and physically disabled people. Me also being disabled on an a very low income, I thought to buy a car that would last. However I never thought that I would get ripped off again, but it seems as though this curse is following me around. I bought a 2005 S60 2.4 D5 163bhp Auto with 108k miles. Thought I had bought a good car but as it turns out I need a lot of things doing and the costs are getting way over my head. The list of what's needed is as follows:
The parts alone for this are coming in at £500 total, without the extra cost of labour. No doubt the labour bill for all the above work will be at least the cost of parts if not more, which I simply don't have. I am asking if there are any members that are local to me in the Carmarthenshire area of South Wales, that may be able to assist me with the labour costs for the repairs? Or know of a garage that may allow me to pay the remaining bill from my disability allowance each week? I do have some cash to pay toward the labour upfront, but with the parts bill at £500 which I will have to pay out and buy the parts. I am then left without enough money to pay for the cost of labour. Talk about being in a catch 22 situation. Being disabled I am limited as to the work I can do on the car myself. I could probably manage to do the service, filter and oil change myself. So that will lower the labour cost somewhat, but I have never replaced a timing belt or tensioner pulleys before and that is something that is crucial on a car. Last thing I want is for it to come off because I haven't done something right. I am not asking for the work to be done for free, I am just hoping to find someone that could help me out. Long shot I know, but I have emailed my two local main agent Volvo dealers here in South Wales, but I haven't received any reply. This is all for a good cause and to help start my charity. Many thanks in advance for taking the time to reads this. |

One other thing I forgot to mention.
I have found a garage in South Wales called Ridds Ramps. The rent out the Bay, ramp, tools, knowledge and assistance if needed for £20 per hour. (would save a lot on garage labour costs at £60+ per hour) But with my disabilities I am not sure that I would even be able to do the work myself these days. Maybe if I could find someone to help me for the day, I could then do all the work, but alone I don't think I am capable any more sadly, as much as I hate to admit it. |

sorry i'm too far away to help.
how about contacting a local school/college to see if there are any trainee mechanics half way through a course who might want some work experience? |

Don't mention that Tw#t of a landlord. Because he served me with an invalid section 21 notice due to them not protecting my deposit for 11 months. That's now expired and they realise they are in the wrong. So instead of returning my deposit to me in full and then issuing me with another two months notice in writing. They have dropped the section 21 possession order and now jumped straight to a section 8 10 11 notice served by a company that isn't even registered with the Rent Smart Wales initiative. So this section 8 notice again isn't valid. The stress is going through the roof as you can imagine. I mean you'd think your landlord physically assaulting me (punched and eye gauged me) a disabled person like me being as vulnerable as I am and he's just allowed to keep doing what he does. If I was able bodied you know how bullies should be dealt with. Trouble is soon as that happens I am in the wrong. So have to just keep biting my lip and letting it go. Some people are just scum mate! Will drop you a PM now bud. Cheers |

There are still some amazing people out there believe me. Without some of the help and advice I've had, I would be in a much worse situation than I am now. For now I will keep searching for someone to do the work for me. One issue I have found through contacting various garages. Out of the 30 or so that I have been in touch with, only 3 have even replied to my email to them. But the answer I get is that they will only do the work if they supply the parts as well as the labour. With such a good deal from a Volvo dealer in Newcastle, who has genoroursly discounted the genuine Volvo parts I need by over 35%. I can't afford to pay garage part prices, so I need to find someone that would be happy to just do the labour only. Easier said than done I must say. With a funeral to get to in London in 10 days time, I hope I can get the car fixed soon. As ever I will be patient and persistent |
