Default Boot leak

Hi
My 2010 xc70 seems to let water in only when I open the boot. It's coming in as it opens between the plastic roof section of the boot and the fabric roof either side depending which is lower. Doesn't let in when jet washed or left standing, only when opened. Assume it's though hinges, as they look like they go up against the seal when closed.
What can be done?
Does that seal I've seen work? Item no. 9154842? Or do I need to do something else?
Many thanks james

Check the two black rubber grommets / plugs along the top. Mine seem to leak a bit.

The area around the grommets is full of water, I assume as there in a depression in the body work and are holding water in that depression, that they aren't leaking, it only happens as the boot opens. I assumed it was coming in the hinge area? Or am I wrong?

Common(ish) problem I believe. As you suspected, water runs off roof/tailgate onto the nice big flat hinges and into car roof lining. Don't know about whether the part you mention works, I kept the seals on mine coated with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care and it seemed to repel/keep out the water... or I could just have been lucky.
Just out of interest, cars parked facing uphill seem to get more than facing downhill - more water running off roof on to hinges.

My v70 leaked there occasionally . It was dirt and moss that had grown on the seal . Easily removed with an old toothbrush and problem sorted. Seals didn't need replacing

I'll try it, but both sides have done it depending which is lower due to slope.
