850 odometer help please!
I had to change the gears on my 850 odometer as they broke about 10k ago, so thought i would wind the mileage on to be correct whilst i was in there , rather than spend the next week winding it on by hand in my infinite wisdom i decided to take the pin out so i can correct it quickly , now i can get the cogs back onto the shaft easily but cant get it to work correctly.....
all the gears seem identical to me .... has anyone has one of these apatrt and successfully put it back together ???

I'm on holiday at the moment so I'm not sure if I've still got the instrument cluster from my old one in the shed. I'll have a look when I get back after the weekend and you'd be welcome to it as a pattern if it's still there.

What's the shaft doing over there.
Stick it back in and with those nimble fingers start adding the green locking doovers (so the dials don't roll as a clump) one at a time from the right (and so the previous number only turns over when the next one hits zero) holding the shaft out at a slight angle and as you roll the largest number dial into its spot (in multiples of ten) you lock it with the doover then move on right, to the next one, smaller number, right. You can't locate the right end of the shaft until you have finished doovering. The numbers have to line up perfectly perpendicular* to the mechanism also the dial locking notches also have to lock up, and line up, identically. and anticipate and prepare for everything to move when you relocate the right end of the shaft Right? *(ly) didn't fit in the line right
