Default XC70 Exhaust

While I was on my back yesterday trying to get the new handbrake cable grommets to sit nicely in place, I couldn't help but notice the middle silencer has two holes in it.

Are any of the after market exhaust suppliers better than any of the others?

Just don't fancy trying to wrestle a badly fitting but cheap pipe in place. Would rather pay a bit more for something that will fit and last.

Bump. Anyone got any thoughts before I make a decision?

I had a stainless Jetex catback exhaust system fitting to my 03 V70 T5 in the new year. Very nicely made piece of kit and had a local indie who installed it without any apparent issues. Cost about as much as the car is worth but I wanted to get something decent. Tailpipe is a bit more noticeable that the original but I'm ok with that.

I've bought two in the last 10 days, "Volvo V70 2.3 2.4 Turbo TD T5 D5 estate system silencer" from an eBay supplier recommend in someone else's post - to avoid possible price increases post 29th March(!!!!).

The quality appears to be very good and significantly cheaper than those available in the UK ie 30% of the 2 quotes (inc fitting) I got before I bought the T5 which has a slight blow on the middle box - I have no experience of the Jetex system.
[IMG][/IMG]
I paid £107 for the first one, supplied as the 3 piece unit shown above i.e. it has a 2 piece middle pipe which is then joined using the stainless sleeved clamp shown in the diagram + rear box ( fits in a smaller box - free postage) which arrived from Germany 3 days after I ordered it, then, having thought about it, I contacted the supplier and asked if he could supply the system as a single middle pipe which he was prepared to do if I paid the increased cost of postage.
The second cost me £130 supplied as a 2 piece unit, but as it is packed in a longer box, the postage goes up by £23 which I thought made better sense for my newer 2.3 V70 T5 and is due to arrive today (25 March)

They both come with a full fixing kit and a 30 month warranty.

As I'm not going to keep my older V70, I will have one brand new spare if you are interested I don't know if it is compatible with an XC70 (I think the the T5 system has a wider bore front pipe but I may be wrong.)

The 3 piece unit will be up for sale on the forum later this week for the £107 that I paid for it collected from Medway or plus the courier charge, or £107 but collection arranged by whomsoever buys it.

eBay link to the systems I purchased and the relevant spec

Thanks for the replies

j0hn - I'm not really bothered about a Jetex system, I had a 9-5 Aero Estate with a lovely 3" Hirsch downpipe and exhaust, that really flew.

ASt85 - thanks for the offer, but the back box is fine, it's the middle box that's holed. I think the XC70 system might be different, the pipe becomes ovalled rather than round where it passes the rear diff.

It might be worth getting a quote for the middle pipe you need from the supplier I used - they seem to be much cheaper given it has a 30 month warranty.

Let me know how well it fits when you get it on and I might give them a go. My usual supplier stocks Eberspacher exhausts, but won't ship them internationally. Which is a pity, as they're good quality. I might just check what a Volvo part would cost, it's the original on the car, so it's not done bad for 15 years/170k miles....
