All great info lads. Very much appreciated.

Think I'm going to go for it. Cars due an MoT I think so the garage has said they will do it before I purchase the car so that should pick any major problems up.

One thing I have been thinking about is winter tyres.

Whats going to be the easiest thing to do. 18" winter tyres are gonna cost a fait bit.

Is there an option to run it on smaller wheels that the 18?

What tyres should I look for.

Sorry for all the questions but I really don't much about cars having never bought one before.

Just paid the deposit. A years MOT and 2 new tyres for the front.

Can't believe I've just bought my first car!

I've got the 18" Medusa rims - I'd have a close look at the wheels and maybe check tyre pressures as they are prone to cracking. If you have these wheels and notice loss of air pressure, then get a refund of what it will cost to get them repaired.

Congratulations on a good choice!

to the fold and happy new car!

I'm sure you'll get much driving pleasure out of it and any questions or queries then don't be afraid to ask. There is someone on here somewhere that will know the answer or have experience of the problem, a problem shared is a problem halved as they say.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Was really nervous today to plop my deposit down. I've never bought a car before and to suddenly spend 6 grand has kind of freaked me out a little.

I'll be sure to stick around and join in the fun!

17" wheels do ride and handle better than 18"

If it's your first car you'll be fine with 18" mind you.

Congrats on getting your first car! My first car is the S40 I still own.7

When you buy it... first thing to do is take it for an MOT elsewhere, and see if any work comes up and that you haven't been given a ropey MOT (it happens).

Well I was hoping to be back here telling you how much I love my new volvo...

But some idiot pulled out in front of me at a junction and has ruined the front of the ka I was trading in for it. So angry and was excited for my volvo! Ah well. Just need to wait a little longer.

Finally. I'm now the proud owner of a volvo!

Only dissapointment so far is lack of a AUX-in for the iPhone!
