Tailgate wiring
Hi all,
I know this is a common problem on the 855/P1 V70. Is it simply a case of removing the roof lining/plastics to access the area, remaking the wiring and refit? I've no rear wiper and the central locking doesn't always unlock the boot so there is obviously some problem there. What gauge wiring do I need? Where is the best place to purchase this? Thanks in advance |

The best way to access the wiring is to remove the plastic trim on the D-pillar. To do that easily, you may need to remove other surrounding pieces too. The wires on the hinge are covered by a piece of plastic too. Once the D-pillar trim is removed, you'll see a connector which you can unplug and having removed the trim on the hinge, you can now extract the wiring through the hinge opening, if that makes sense and work more easily on the wires. You'll need to unwind all the tape etc. to expose the wires.
If any wires are snapped off, it is quite easy to fix in my experience. I thought it would be daunting but it did not take me more than 30 minutes all in to get my rear wiper working once I had concluded it had to be the tailgate wiring.
